Tip:
Don't
over-use 'click here'
For robots and spiders (for search
engine optimisation)
Spiders and robots, such as the Googlebot which crawls sites
to determine indexing and rank, take a lot of notice of the
text links on your site. So naming a link 'click here' (while
not always wrong) is not telling Google what the next page
is actually about. 'View Sydney houses for sale', however,
would be more relevant if this is what the next page is about.
For humans (for usability)
Hyperlinks and 'calls to action' often go hand-in hand. Hyperlink
the actions that lead to conversions (turn visitors into sales).
Make it clear what you want your visitors to do by hyperlinking
terms such as 'contact our Melbourne office', 'view our accounting
services', 'get your free sample', ' buy this book', 'join
our mailing list' and the like. |
